Your security is our priority
Prospera Credit Union uses industry-leading technology and practices to protect your accounts, data, and identity around the clock. Security isn't a feature we bolt on — it's built into every product, every transaction, and every interaction you have with us.
How we protect you
Our security program combines technology, monitoring, and trained specialists to defend against fraud, identity theft, and unauthorized access.
256-bit encryption
All Online Banking sessions are encrypted end-to-end using TLS 1.3, the same standard used by government agencies and military organizations. Data in transit and at rest is protected.
Multi-factor authentication
Verify your identity with a one-time code sent to your phone or email when signing on from a new device or browser. Biometric sign-on supported on compatible devices.
Fraud monitoring
Our systems analyze transaction patterns 24/7 using machine learning models trained on billions of transactions. Unusual activity triggers real-time alerts.
Session management
Automatic sign-off after 10 minutes of inactivity. View and revoke active sessions from Settings → Security → Active Sessions.
Account alerts
Customizable notifications for sign-on attempts, password changes, large transactions, and transfers to new recipients.
Zero liability
You're not responsible for unauthorized transactions reported within 60 days. We investigate and resolve fraud claims promptly.
Layers of protection
Prevention
Encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection, and secure coding practices prevent unauthorized access to our systems and your data.
Detection
Real-time transaction monitoring, behavioral analytics, and device fingerprinting identify suspicious activity before it causes harm.
Response
When fraud is detected, we freeze affected accounts, notify you immediately, and begin investigation within minutes — 24/7.
Recovery
Provisional credit for disputed transactions while we investigate. Card replacement shipped overnight at no charge.
Recognize common scams
Fraudsters constantly evolve their tactics. Here are the most common schemes targeting bank customers — and how to avoid them.
Phishing emails & texts
Fake messages claiming your account is locked or a payment failed. They include links to counterfeit websites designed to steal your credentials. Prospera Credit Union never asks for your password via email or text.
Phone scams (vishing)
Callers posing as bank employees asking for your account number, PIN, or one-time codes. Hang up and call us directly at +1 236 500 9933.
Zelle & payment app fraud
Scammers pose as buyers, employers, or government agencies and ask you to send money via payment apps. Never send money to someone you haven't met in person.
Check overpayment scams
You receive a check for more than expected and are asked to wire back the difference. The check is fake and will bounce, leaving you liable for the full amount.
Romance scams
Someone you met online asks for money — often via wire transfer or gift cards. Be skeptical of anyone you've never met in person asking for financial help.
Tech support scams
Pop-ups or calls claiming your computer is infected. They ask for remote access and then access your banking accounts. Never grant remote access to unsolicited callers.
Protect yourself
Never share your password or one-time codes
Prospera Credit Union will never call, text, or email asking for your full password, PIN, or verification code. If someone does, it's a scam — hang up and call us at +1 236 500 9933.
Use a strong, unique password
Choose a password with at least 12 characters mixing letters, numbers, and symbols. Don't reuse passwords from other sites. Consider a password manager to generate and store unique passwords.
Review account activity regularly
Sign on to Online Banking weekly to review transactions. Report anything unfamiliar immediately. Enable transaction alerts for real-time notification of account activity.
Keep your contact info current
Update your phone number and email in Settings so we can reach you about suspicious activity. Outdated contact info delays fraud alerts.
Secure your devices
Keep your operating system and browser updated. Use antivirus software. Avoid banking on public Wi-Fi — use cellular data or a VPN instead.
Check website URLs carefully
Always verify you're on prosperabbk.com before entering credentials. Look for the padlock icon in your browser. Phishing sites use similar-looking URLs like secure-bank.com or securebank.net.
Privacy & data handling
We collect only the information necessary to provide banking services and protect your accounts. We do not sell your personal data to third parties, data brokers, or advertisers. Read our full Privacy Policy for details on data collection, use, and your rights.
You can control marketing communications, data sharing preferences, and analytics opt-out from Settings → Privacy in Online Banking.
