Gather your info
You'll need a valid government-issued ID, Social Security number, and a funding source (another bank account or debit card).
Choose your account
Select Everyday, Premier, or Student Checking based on your balance and banking habits.
Complete enrollment
Fill out the online application — it takes about 10 minutes. You'll set up Online Banking at the same time.
Fund & start banking
Make your opening deposit and your debit card arrives in 7–10 business days. Use Online Banking immediately.
Prefer to open in person? Visit any Prospera Credit Union branch with your ID. A banker can open your account and print a temporary debit card on the spot.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a minimum balance requirement?
Everyday and Student Checking have no minimum balance. Premier Checking waives the monthly fee when you maintain an average daily balance of $2,500 or more.
Can I use my debit card internationally?
Yes. Your Prospera Credit Union Visa Debit works worldwide. A 1% foreign transaction fee applies on international purchases and ATM withdrawals.
How do I order checks?
Sign on to Online Banking and go to Account Services → Order Checks. Your first order of standard checks is free with Premier Checking.
What happens if I overdraft?
We may pay overdrafts at our discretion. Everyday Checking charges $35 per overdraft item (max 3 per day). Student Checking waives the first overdraft fee each calendar year.
Can I have multiple checking accounts?
Yes. Many customers keep a primary checking account for bills and a secondary one for discretionary spending. Open additional accounts from Online Banking or at a branch.
